Our Story

Barkworth Reeve:

Where Quiet Elegance Meets Modern Function

A Kitchen Table Dream

It started at a scrubbed pine table in a busy family kitchen in Harrogate, on the edge of the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. Amidst the noise and chaos of family life, Barkworth Reeve was born. Our founder, Jennie Parker, had a desire: to create a range of beautiful accessories that seamlessly blended a country heritage aesthetic with modern functionality, with a nod to her beloved equestrian style. So, she set about making it happen, and the result is Barkworth Reeve.

Considered Detail

At Barkworth Reeve, we don't just create accessories—we design lifelong companions. Each product is a carefully crafted expression of quality and enduring style, born from a deep commitment practicality and purpose.

Inspired by the majesty of the British countryside and our equestrian heritage, we proudly stand apart from the disposable world of fast fashion. Our philosophy echoes William Morris: we believe in surrounding yourself with objects that are both useful and beautiful.

Our founder's guiding principle, "God is in the details," drives everything we do. From a perfectly positioned pocket to our customer service, we obsess over the subtle elements that transform a simple product into an indispensable part of your daily existance. These aren't mass-produced items—they're carefully designed to make your life easier.

Pricing and Transparency

At Barkworth Reeve, we believe in transparency and fairness.
We aren't a faceless corporate venture, and are not a huge team, it's small and it's personal. Our pricing reflects the value of our materials and craftsmanship. Sometimes, this means we accept a little less profit to stay true to our principles. Might not be how most people would function, but its a pillar of who we are. We're building more than a brand; we're serving and incredible tribe of women to whom this matters.  Welcome to our world of timeless style with a Yorkshire heart.

Sourcing

We only source leather from LWG certified tanneries. The Leather Working Group is the leading environmental certification for leather and means it is tanned in an environmentally responsible way. All of our leather is tanned within a mile of the family owned and run factory where it is produced and has a minimal carbon footprint. Our hides are tanned to order, reducing waste, and we use our handbag offcuts to produce our smaller gifting products

We use metal hardware which can be recycled when a bag comes to the end of its life, and we are working towards using YKK Natulon zips which have 100% recycled polyester zip tape – we aren’t there yet, but it will happen. Our bag linings are either LWG certified leather or Cotton.
