Deliberate by Design

Accessories engineered to make your life easier.
When we design a product, nothing is accidental.
There is a reason behind the structure and placement of every pocket; even the pen holder was a considered decision!
Jennie Parker
Behind the Brand

As a seven year old I wanted to be a designer; a car designer.

I was (and still am) fascinated by structure. By balance; how form and function can compliment and coexist in total harmony

I grew up in a house where we were encouraged to create. We had a playroom full of tools, card, cutting matts glue guns, balsa wood, paints, buttons, fymo clay, junior hack saws and miniture vices bolted to a large 'making table'. Making things wasn't a hobby. It was expected. If you wanted a new piece for the dolls house, you had the tools, so you got on and made it.

I've never forgotten that.

Years later, I found myself sat at a kitchen table in a Harrogate, children in the garden, tea going cold, with a feeling I couldn't shake. That the bags we, as women carry every day deserve to be better. To work harder and make life easier. More considered. More honest. Created by someone who actually cares about the end user experience .

That feeling became Barkworth Reeve.

For me, its non negotiable
The difference is the details

I trained at Cordwainers in London, where I fell completely in love with the construction of bags. The hidden structure of a well-designed bag. The way weight distributuion travels through a strap. The quiet confidence of something perfectly balanced and made to last.

Mostly you never see this work. But you know when its working. You can feel it; the way a bag sits perfectly, the way it opens and doesn't sag, the way it still looks stunning after five years and everyday use. The way nothing else compares and you aren't quite sure why.

That invisibility is the point.

I've sampled products three times to get them right. I've scrapped designs that didnt work hard enough. I've walked away from trends that could have sold well but ultimately added nothing. Why? I can't put my name on something I don't believe in.

Its about
Our 'Why'

I design for women I know, love and recognise. Women who are keeping a lot balls in the air, and doing it without fuss. Women who are tired of buying things that promise everything and are left quietly let down and disappointed. Women who want something that simply, reliably, timless and works beautifully.

This isn't a brand built on fluff and shouty logos. It's built on respect, graft and quality.

Barkworth Reeve
Small but perfectly formed

Barkworth Reeve is largely a one-woman operation. That's not a limitation it's a decision. It means nothing gets waved through. It means I know every product the way you know something you made yourself.

We're not chasing rapid expansion and a fast dime, its slow incremental scaling. We're building what is right.

Our pricing is fair, we believe you deserve to know what you're paying for. Sometimes that means a making slightly less margin, c'est la vie. You can't build trust and chase shortcuts at the same time.

Considered design and
Made with care

Our leather comes from LWG-certified tanneries, the gold standard for responsible production. Tanned within a mile of where it's made. Ordered to reduce waste. Our offcuts become our smaller pieces, because nothing good should be thrown away.

We use recyclable hardware. We're working towards fully recycled zip tape. We're not perfect yet — but we're honest about where we're going, and we're going there deliberately.

The Future
What we are building

We're building something we hope you'll keep for years. Something you'll recommend to your friends, something that becomes part of you and your daily life so completely that you can't imagine life without it.

A brand you trust, and come back to again and again becuase we deliver every time.

That's the highest compliment we can imagine.
